How Much Does It Cost to Rent a 10-Passenger Van in Chicago? (2026 Price Guide)

The straight answer first: at FamilyVan Chicago, a 10-passenger van costs $110 per day, flat — Monday, Saturday, July, January, it does not matter. Across the Chicago market, full-size passenger vans typically rent for $110 to $170+ per day depending on the company, the season, and how close to the weekend you book. This guide breaks down what you will actually pay, what the two common add-ons cost, and how to keep the bill down.

The short answer — our rate card

Rental length Price
1 day $110
Weekend (Fri–Sun) $330
Full week (7 days) $770
Airport delivery, O'Hare or Midway +$160 round trip (delivery + return)
Booking deposit (refundable) $500 hold

That is the whole pricing model. There is no weekend surcharge, no summer peak pricing, and no "economy van vs premium van" tier — every one of our six vans (Chevrolet Express 2020, Ford Transit 2019 Black, Ford Transit 2019 White, Ford Transit 2018, Ford Transit 2016, Ford Transit 2015) rents at the same $110/day.

What "flat rate" actually means

Most rental pricing you see online is a starting rate: the number on the ad assumes a Tuesday in February, booked a month out. Weekend rates at the big chains are routinely 20–40% higher, and summer — especially July, the most expensive rental month in Chicago — pushes everything up further.

Our $110 is the rate, not a starting rate. A van on a Saturday in July costs the same as a van on a Wednesday in November. If you are comparing quotes, make sure you are comparing the price *you* will pay on *your* dates, not someone's off-peak teaser.

The two add-ons that change the total

There are only two line items that can appear on top of the daily rate.

1. Airport delivery — $160 round trip. If you are flying into O'Hare or Midway with a group, we drive the van to the terminal and hand you the keys — no shuttle bus, no rental counter. The $160 covers both the delivery to the airport *and* the return pickup there at the end of your trip. Prefer to save it? Pick up the van yourself at our Melrose Park location (1201 N 31st Ave unit b) — pickup there is free, and we are about ten minutes from O'Hare.

2. The $500 deposit — a hold, not a charge. It goes on your card at booking and comes back after the van returns clean, undamaged, and on time. It is the same $500 for everyone: no higher holds for young renters, no lower holds for regulars, no exceptions. Do not budget it as a cost, but do make sure the card has the available balance when you book.

Taxes may apply on top. Ask us for the mileage terms on your quote before you book — we would rather you know the full number up front than discover it at the counter.

What drives prices up elsewhere

If you are shopping around, here is why quotes vary so much:

  • Season. July is the priciest month for vehicle rentals in Chicago; June through August and the October mini-peak all run higher. Winter is the cheapest time to rent.
  • Day of week. Friday-through-Sunday is premium at most companies. Groups renting for weddings and tournaments — which almost always fall on weekends — feel this the most.
  • Lead time. Booking two to three weeks out is the sweet spot. Last-minute weekend bookings in summer are where you see the $160–$200/day numbers.
  • Airport counters. Renting at the airport terminal from a national chain usually means the highest base rate plus airport concession fees baked in. Delivery from a local company is often cheaper than the counter price *and* the fees.

Four ways to keep the bill down

  1. Pick up in Melrose Park. Skipping the $160 airport delivery is the single biggest saving on a short trip.
  2. Go midweek if you can. Even with our flat rate, midweek means better van choice and easier scheduling around your dates.
  3. Book ahead for summer weekends. June–August weekends are the first to sell out. A booking two or three weeks early costs the same as a last-minute one — when there is still a van left.
  4. Do the one-van math. If the alternative is two rental cars at $50/day each, the van at $110/day is already close on paper — and the van wins by a mile once you add the second car's parking, fuel, and tolls. (We break this down fully in our family reunion guide.)

The bottom line

For most Chicago group trips, the realistic all-in number for a 10-passenger van is $110 per day plus a refundable $500 hold, with an optional $160 round-trip airport delivery. Anything far above that is paying for a brand name, a peak date, or an airport counter — not for a better van.
