Fitting a group into one vehicle means one gas tank, one set of tolls, and everyone arriving and leaving together instead of coordinating two or three separate cars. It also means shared driving — trade off behind the wheel on a longer trip instead of one person doing it all — and enough room to actually organize luggage instead of stacking it on laps. We won't claim a van is automatically cheaper than driving two smaller cars; it depends on your group size, trip length and how you'd otherwise split the driving, but for a family or group of six or more, it's usually the simpler option either way.
The fleet is full-size 10-passenger vans (Ford Transit and Chevrolet Express class) — genuinely more shoulder room, legroom and cargo space than a minivan. With all seats filled, luggage space behind the last row is naturally tighter; for a shorter 2–3 day trip most groups fit comfortably, while a week or more with 10 people usually means packing light or considering a roof box.
| Passengers | Suitcases | Carry-Ons | Trip Length Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6–7 | Comfortable full-size luggage | Plus a bag each | Great for a week or more |
| 8–10 | Tighter — pack efficiently | Fits, but limited extra | Best for a weekend to a few days |

A 2–3 day trip books the same way as any short rental — pick your dates in the form above. For a full week, the same booking flow works; just set your actual return date and the price recalculates. For something longer than a couple of weeks, our Long-Term Rental page is set up for a custom quote instead of the instant per-day price. A quick weekend trip? Check our Weekend Rental page.
Every rental day includes 250 miles, with extra miles billed at $0.35 each — we don't offer unlimited mileage. Add your estimated trip mileage in the trip notes field when you book so we can flag anything that looks unusual before you're on the road. A rough example: a Chicago-to-Door County round trip runs a little over 500 miles, which a 3-day rental (750 included miles) would typically cover; always plan your own route to be sure.
Yes, reasonable interstate travel into neighboring states is generally fine. We don't currently support one-way rentals — the van needs to return to our Chicago location, not a different city. Trips into Canada or Mexico, and toll road specifics, are covered in our Rental Policy — check there or ask us directly if your route crosses a border.
Every van is checked before it goes out for a rental. If something comes up on the road — a warning light, a tire issue, or a breakdown — call us directly at (858) 241-1035 and we'll walk you through next steps for your specific situation. We can't guarantee a trip will be problem-free — no rental company honestly can — but you'll have a real person to call, not a hold queue. Before a longer trip, it's worth checking the weather forecast for your route and planning stops accordingly.
Longer drives go smoother with realistic expectations: plan for regular stops, pack snacks within reach, and leave room for a stroller if you're traveling with a young child.
Pick your pickup and return dates in the form above, and note your destination in the trip notes field.
Add your rough round-trip mileage so we can flag anything outside the standard 250 miles/day allowance.
Note how many drivers you'll have, then confirm your contact details.
Review the trip total and reservation deposit before you pay, then pick up at our location or arrange airport delivery.
